Identification of Factors Affecting Pedestrian Satisfaction toward Land Use and Street Type

Walking is an essential sustainable mode of transportation. Encouraging to increase walking trips can bring various social and economic benefits our society. Since the policy paradigm has been shifting from car-oriented pedestrian-oriented, interest in securing pedestrian rights improving environments increasing significantly. This study aims examine factors affecting satisfaction according land use street type. A survey was conducted industrial city with a mid-size population Changwon, South Korea. Based on data 500 respondents, were analyzed by (commercial or residential areas) type (non-separated separated sidewalks). The analysis results, using binary ordered logit models, showed that less illegal parking, more space, guidance facility, green higher satisfaction. Factors positively paths physical environmental variables, such as sidewalk variable. In commercial areas, facilities cleanliness included major influencing factors, implying differences factors. common factor non-separated cases also identified sufficiency space. Therefore, most urgent measure for install expand pedestrian-vehicle separation space significant variables conditions included.
